Our first winter outing to Manning Park was magic as we came across so many beautiful crystaline works of art from Mother Nature.  We skied and snowshoed across Lightning Lake and into the woods.

When we got out of the car, we were greeted by a friendly snowman at the lake.

First ski of the year - Woo Hoo!

A snow angel was seen near the trail.

About this time, we began seeing incredible frozen crystal formations.

Then it was back across the lake to view the Similkameen River.

The river had ice formed rapids.

The built up ice caused the water to overflow the bank and then freeze.

In places it looked like landlocked icebergs as the water flowed into, under and around the ice formations in the middle of the river.

It was a fine trail by the river.

On the bridge at one end of the trail

Back at the lake, we skied to the boathouse.

At the boathouse we spied more interesting frozen creations by the shore.

These were most unusual feathery formations.

The Whisky Jacks were looking for a free handout.

The ski trails at Strawberry Flats were just perfect.

We must come back to try all the trails

At the end of the day we went back to the lodge to enjoy the hot tub.............

..........only to find that we were not the first.
